Heather Cream rewards our Great Scots
Heather Cream, Scotland’s Original Cream Liqueur, was delighted to reward the ‘cream of Scotland’s’ unsung heroes at the Sunday Mail’s prestigious Great Scot Awards on Saturday 15th September.
The Great Scot Awards was established to recognise those individuals who have acted with either exceptional strength of character or bravery in difficult circumstances and whose actions make us proud to be Scottish. Celebrities from the world of TV, sport and entertainment gathered with nominees and their friends and families at the gala dinner to congratulate this year’s deserving winners. On arrival to the event dubbed, the ‘People’s Oscars’, guests were treated to Heather Cream cocktails. Then throughout the evening comedian Elaine C Smith entertained with inspirational stories of ordinary, everyday Scots who have battled against the odds to achieve the extraordinary.
As always it was difficult to select winners from the thousands of worthy nominations, however the judging panel were delighted to reward the following triumphant Scots on Saturday ...
· Outstanding Achievement Award – Iain Black
· Hall of Fame – Sir Alex Ferguson
· Lifetime Achievement Award – Harry Benson
· Unsung Hero – Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow
· Unsung Hero – Danny Cassie
· Unsung Hero – Ryan Forrester and Declan Taylor
· Unsung Hero – John Crickshank
· Community Champion – Sighthill Library, Edinburgh
· Charity Award – Liz McColgan
In addition this year saw an exceptional group of men rewarded for their brave efforts at Glasgow International Airport on June 30th. The group composed of service men, airport employees and holidaymakers were awarded the Great Scot Award for their quick response to the terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport, epitomising the spirit of the Great Scot Awards.
The Great Scot Awards and Heather Cream also raised money on the night by holding a luxury raffle and auction. The Great Scot Awards nominated charities including Nordoff Robbins, Breast Cancer Care; Children in Distress, Leukemia Research and Strathcairn Hospice who will each receive a donation.
