A legion of hairy faced men infiltrated and took over the OXO Tower Brasserie last week as part of the annual Movember fund raiser.
Movember is the annual month-long charity awareness campaign that tackles men’s health and prostate cancer in particular. If you have been out and about in London recently thinking “My, there’s a lot of blokes with moustaches around at the moment” then you’re likely to have witnessed a Mo Bro; an ordinary everyday bloke that has given up his shaving privileges for the month of November in support of his fellow man.
The link between diet and cancer has long been linked, so what better way to celebrate being half way through the month of Movember than to have a Long Lunch at one of London’s best restaurants?
The menu was created specifically by Aussie Head Chef & seasoned Mo BRO, Deon Jansen, using ingredients like tomatoes and watermelon which are high in Lycopene antioxidants, proven to reduce men’s chances of developing prostate cancer.
John Neate, CEO of The Prostate Cancer Charity was on hand to say a few words while Murdoch barbers with Wilkinson Sword blades and Dermalogica girls were stationed on the terrace to style each guest’s Mo.
The 3-course meal involved salt & pepper fried squid and watermelon cashew nut salad for starters, green masala spiced corn fed chicken breast for main, and chocolate pudding with butterscotch sauce and Guinness ice cream for dessert. £5 was donated from every meal to the Movember cause by OXO Tower Brasserie.
Following the lunch the cocktail bar served up a few ‘Mo’jitos.
Movember co-founders Justin Coughlan (front left in white jacket) and Anthony Power (back right in similar fetching white jacket) were on hand to help their Mo Bros enjoy the feast.
Even Fluid London’s own Christian Rose-Day has been taking part in Movember. If you feel the urge to donate to the cause please follow this link.
