Shepherd's Bush has had a rather grand renaissance recently with the mahu-sive Westfield shopping centre and snazzy new tube station, but even before Westfield was a building site, the K West Hotel & Spa was bringing in the coolest crowd from miles around. Recently refitted with a funky glass and steel exterior, this beacon for musicians, celebs, bands and groupies now offers anyone a piece of the action with their exclusive Rock 'n' Roll package.

Housed in former BBC studios, K West is the post-gig residence of choice for any A-lister playing at the nearby Shepherd's Bush Empire – Kate Moss, Pete Doherty, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Kings of Leon, Will Young, Robbie Williams – just a handful of the rock stars, models and A-C listers that have stayed, played and frayed here.

K West's restaurant, Kanteen, offers a splendidly creative modern menu, themed around Saints (pretty healthy, guilt-free options), and Sinners – burgers, steaks and meatballs (repent later, or burn off the calories singing).

After living it up in a stunning triple-glazed, huge-bedded, carpet-foot-massaging suite, you'll be escorted to the Wendyhouse boutique recording studio, very conveniently just three minutes walk around the corner. It's here where your Rock/Pop star diva can really be let out – have an optional singing lesson, be shown around the studio, sip champagne, rehearse to a backing track, brush up on song lyrics – whatever takes your fancy. Once you're ready you'll go to the ultra-glam recording room to start your performance, and you'll be in one of the best places in the UK to do it – Will Young and Robbie Williams have worked on their most recent albums here, so you're in good company.

The on-hand producer will guide you through your song, and after a few takes you'll really start to see it take shape. I sang The Kinks, All Day and All of the Night, and instantly felt like at least a B-List celeb. You get to take home a re-mastered copy (so you'll end up sounding more Leona Lewis than Cheryl Cole live, heaven forbid), which you can then share with all your friends, family and fans. Amazing fun, and a fab idea for a party or special treat...
