Just because they live in a busy area doesn't mean they have to put up with an excessive atmosphere.

the way the law is now gives the police too much power. they can decide whether its too loud or not and ignore the residents complaints.

If it's not the noise it's the dancing; if it's not the dancing it's the parking....

To me it just sounds like there are just too many people living downtown that like the price tag of living there but don't want to deal with everything else.

The solution is that people who don't like noisy, crowded downtown areas should not reside in them.

It sounds like the businesses are doing their part; the neighbors need to give a little as well.

This post is in response to the other posts on this site Re: The London Tap House Bar in London Ontario Canada. I live in this building. It is an Ontario (Government subsidized) Housing building. The building is occupied by mostly seniors and disabled people who can't afford to live anywhere else. London City council won't do anything regarding the noise since the Mayor and many City Council members also own bars on Richmond Row. The mayor's husband is a drunk and almost killed a woman while driving drunk in January 2010 see info at: http://www.londontopic.ca/article.php?artid=12790 ) The police have never placed noise charges against the bar even with the Tap House bar being as noisy as ever and it being almost a year later after the new bylaws were put into effect. The people in the building were calling the police to try to stop the noise then the police would come to these old peoples' apartments harrass them into silence. (the police make $100 an hour for providing "security" for the bar to ply their drugs to young people undisturbed by the RCMP.) Even when Ms. Girard tried to press charges against the bar and the police harassed and ran after her in the front of the building when she contacted her Ward Councillor and told her about the harassment, the Councillor told her that she couldn't be the "babysit" her from the police. The old people including myself who is a 75+ year old man are afraid of the police and we are still kept awake at night until 4:00 AM with that disgusting infernal noise.
