Here in Liverpool and the Liverpool city region we still have a great number of superb real ale pubs; you could argue that this is the real ale capital of England. The architecture, brewing heritage and raft of current local breweries should have turned out a winner for every category. So what's going wrong with getting the message out? Why, for example, did the recent (Manchester?) Guardian and Observer pubs guide not list a single pub on Merseyside? Very bizarre."
