Alan Campbell has finally admitted that ADZs aren't popular! Not one council has yet brought an ADZ in the whole year!

"The fact that there are not any Alcohol Disorder Zones does not suggest that they are not working."
Are they kidding? What suggests that they ARE working?

The whole process is so bureaucratically complicated, it never had a chance.

I agree. Giving our councils more licensing leeway and enforcing existing laws is the way to handle those who have drunken too much, not make more crazy-out-of-touch policies.

They never established clear guidelines as to who was going to be charged, and how much. The govt wasn't even serious enough about these zones to go through with the plan.

This makes me mad. If I had the extra money they would require me to pay for the extra policing, I'd just hire my own security firm to handle things how I want them to be handled. I'm already being taxed up to my eyeballs and my customers have abandoned me, where am I going to get this extra money?!

Hear hear!
If the penalties for drunken disorderly were more stringently enforced, perhaps people wouldn't drink to excess and make asses of themselves out in public, and the problem would get better. As it is, the punishment is a slap on the wrist, so why would these arses stop?
