It looks like the largest pub letter is, financially anyway, just like the rest of us. Having racked up a great deal of debt in recent years and dipping rents, it looks as if their bank loans could have to be renegotiated if they continue down this financial path.

"A spokesman for the company said that the report included a number of flawed assumptions and failed to reflect that the group already had almost £100m of undrawn facilities and a debt reduction programme in place."

EI's bank, Goldman Sachs, is even advising clients to sell EI shares in preparation for the plummet. I wonder how they like being on the receiving end...

Ha! Serves 'em right! Can't say I feel the least bit sorry for them though.
