Winter is upon us; don't get left behind with seasonal promotion - be the leader of the pack

Welcome to the first diary entry - designed to help you market your venue. Written in association with Fuelled Media, our regular diary entries will give you all an insight on how Fuelled Media helps clients, and hopefully give you inspiration for marketing your own bar, club and restaurant.

When it comes to seasonal promotion bars, clubs and venues need to make sure that they are aware of all the variety of mediums available for marketing such as flyers, banners, motion graphics (animation on LCD screens) as well as posters, menus, and digital print services. You need to make sure your venue is utilising all promotional materials to the full extent, whether its flyers for fresher's week, banners for bonfire night or menu offers on motion graphics.

Planning and timing

As Christmas is fast approaching we know some of you may prefer to do your shopping last minute! But don't leave all your promotional material needs to the last minute as well. From our experience the quicker the bars have been with providing design briefs the quicker the production of concepts, flyers and posters. Ideas and concepts for winter to help those that are stuck can include:

For Christmas:

  • Traditional angels
  • Christmas trees
  • Light snowflakes
  • Scribble and abstract trees, angels etc
  • Foiled, glitter and other effects

For January:

  • Detox Nights - fresh, green concepts
  • January Sales - big, bright, bold references
  • Bartenders New Years eve night (for all your staff who missed out on New Years eve)

The importance of menus

One of the very first tasks in preparation to Christmas should be designs for Christmas menus, as they need to be distributed to offices by September, Christmas sometimes does start as early as August! However not all bars and venues are that early some don't approach us till November which is when we recommend digital printing for quick runs, as it has a quick turnaround time of only one day. It's not just at Christmas, but in January you should introduce a revised menu, to include any offers or special drinks, and use fresh concepts to symbolise the start of the New Year. Ideas can include:

  • Winter scenes
  • Corporate and clean visuals
  • Winter colours such as blue, white, silver, to vibrant red and green
  • Winter related cartoon characters
  • Festive shapes such as stars, holly and ivy
  • Festive related objects such as baubles, Santa’s, reindeers

Last minute dashes for promotional materials

So if you’re reading this and having panic attacks...take a deep breath and fear not, our list of hints and tips will have you rest assured of all the possibilities that are still available for your Winter promotions:

  • Have your promotions, menus, offers and nights all displayed online. Its quick, easy and you will still get your message out there.
  • Use online portals and websites like www.FluidTrade.co.uk, and even social networking sites such as Facebook where you set up an event and invite people.
  • Have your promotional material printed on the digital press, the turnaround time is quicker and you will get your promotional material within days
