Make profits with Valentines Day
Wave goodbye to the January blues and say hello to February; a month that is undervalued for the amount of profits it can
bring from customers who are generally feeling more positive, and more inclined to spend money to go out and have fun.
Not to mention loved up couples who will want to spend a night in a cosy and comfortable place where they can be offered
food, drink in a romantic environment. If it is the party crowd you are after, why not liven up the night for all the
singles out there as well. As usual we are here to offer you a wealth of ideas to make sure you reap profits from the
most romantic time of the year!
How to use the Valentines theme to create profits
Your Valentines can be a success with some careful planning and you can make sure that you are well prepared to cater to your
target audience whether it be the party crowd, loved up couples or both.
Firstly planning is essential, we have identified some of the ideas and planning that need to be done in advance so that
preparation can be made, and customers can be informed:
- Plan your night/s by getting your staffs' opinions and choose the days which will be most profitable, be it Valentines Day itself, the weekend before, or after, or the days in between
- Choose the themes for your night (see below)
- Sort out your promotional material and make sure your theme is briefed to your designers as accurately as possible, leave sufficient time for print!
- Distribute the promotion materials well in advance
- Include separate promotions for students who also want to celebrate the day (NUS)
Food and drink
Food and drink are fundamental to Valentines in general and can be themed in a variety of ways to create profits:
- Red and pink themed cocktails such as cosmopolitans
- For students red and pink shots such as red after shocks and pink sambucca
- Valentines meal deals for couples can be constructed to use on Valentines Day itself or during the day, which can consist of a three course meal which means you will gain further revenue from customers
- Bar food and snacks can also be used to fit in with Valentines Day, whether its red capers with tomato bread, or pink mousse and red jellies the choices are endless
Promotional nights
Promotional nights are a great way to bring in further revenue, and there are countless ways and ideas to encourage a range
of customers to come and spend money at your bar or venue with the following ideas:
Party nights
- Red or pink themed where ladies who are wearing red get free entry
- Traffic light theme where red clad ladies signal unavailable, amber signal ladies that might be available and green clothed ladies are single and out for fun
Couples nights
- A famous vocalist/singer can be invited to do a few songs and you can encourage a different crowd by having a more relaxed night
- A jazz night or a pianist can also be another way to change the tempo
Valentines Day can be an extremely profitable time, and you can utilise it however you want by choosing what suits you and
your bar the best! Just make sure your nights are well planned, and most importantly thoroughly promoted.
