May time mayhem
With warmer weather and longer daytime hours the month of May really marks the beginning of summer, so what better
month to start all summer activity. From barbecues, outdoor furniture to summer drinks, exploit May and make sure
your bar or venue stays full throughout summer.
May bank holiday spectaculars
With two bank holidays in May and with the first one officially marking the start of summer, there are so many
different ways to ensure that customers keep on coming through the doors. As many of your customers will start
the weekend from Friday all the way to Monday, it will allow you to pull in a crowd throughout the whole the weekend
and back again at the next one. All you need to do is pick a few ideas from below and make sure that you spread them
out evenly over the two weekends!
-
Booking a well known/famous DJ can be good way to ensure a crowd who will come to your bar for the music, why not
line up a different DJ with a diverse sound for every night. Focusing on the music can really be an effective and
original way of promoting your bar over the bank holiday weekend
-
With many free festivals and live music gatherings happening, why not choose one of the line ups to do a live PA or
a performance at your bar or venue as an after show party. This is a very popular way to continue the parties that
are already happening
-
For a more classier touch why not encourage jazz music, from saxophone players to jazz singers and musicians
-
As well as Jazz why not get soul or blues singers, this can be incorporated as part of the chilled vibe as the weekend
ends to a close
-
Having a chilled vibe during bank holiday Monday can be another great way to end the bank holiday weekend, from summer
food and drinks and perhaps even a barbecue
Introducing summer food and drinks
As ever summer marks the change of seasonal food and it also means the time to change the menu, changing your food
and menu around means that there are more new ways to promote your bar or venue. From summer salads and soups, to
fresher and fruiter twists, adding new food can be an exciting way to entice customers.
Barbecues are another way to start summer food with a bang, from tasty char grilled meats, zingy salads and vegetarian
kebabs means that you can cater for the most fussiest of eaters, plus the delicious smells of the barbecue will do all
the promoting for you.
Entice the tasters
The longer day time hours mean that there will be more customers coming in to your bar or venue not just over the bank
holiday but during the week after work as well. As you still want to make sure that you keep the punters coming in between
the two bank holiday weekends, try some of these ideas below to really ensure an eventful May:
-
Why not get some tasting events set up for your customers, with all the food and drink changes going on, why not spoil a
few of your loyal customers, from food tasting to wine, beer, cocktails and much more
-
Have a media event, invite local journalists from your region and spoil them to an evening of food and drink, this way you
can get some coverage in your local newspapers and magazines in return
-
Hold a speed dating night, this is another good way to attract new customers, get people buying drinks and mingling at
your bar. It will take a little time to organise but the benefits are definitely worth it
