July is the time for musical mayhem

The scent of freshly cut grass and bbq’s is normally what people associated with July. However, it is also the start of summer music festivals and we want to show you how this can help to promote your bar or venue.

Hundreds of people attend music festivals during the summer due to the popularity of mainstream musicians and bands performing. Festivals such as Glastonbury have been known to have sold up to 112, 500 tickets in 2003. There are hundreds of festivals across the country such as Download, the Big Chill and many more which could be right on your door step. Below are just some of the benefits you will reap:

  • You will gain new custom, and gain further repeat custom as well
  • A regular feed of information about local and regional festivals makes you more aware and makes your bar or venue the ideal place for after parties
  • You will also gain important contact details of organisers and companies therefore getting their custom

Increase profits with festivals

Once you realise the benefits there are even more ways that you can actually physically utilise festivals. Below are just a few ways in which bars and venues have incorporated festival mania:

  • Why not distribute flyers and posters around the area the festival is taking place to the large amounts of footfall in that area should be benefited from
  • Sponsor a local festival that way where ever the festival is promoted you will be promoted as well
  • Raffles, competitions and prizes whether it is tickets to the festival or backstage passes
  • Karaoke nights themed around the musicians and bands that are performing
  • Use the music which is going to be performed at the festival at your bar
  • Organise nights where the band performing can come and perform as an after party
  • Research into which caters will be present at the festivals and use them to offer free food vouchers that can be handed out at your venue
  • Happy hours which can include festival inspired drinks and cocktails
  • Pre and post festival lunches, brunches, evening meal deals and specials during the festival days can ensure you gain profit from your food

A lot of the details regarding festivals can be found on their websites, therefore when it comes to putting the ideas in to practice get on the web and start researching:

  • Research your local area and the events taking place over the summer
  • Speak to the organisers and don’t forget to keep the important contact details
  • Note down the ideas and inform staff who might have more ideas that you can use
